Obituary for Robert James Ackerson

Robert (also known as Scooby to his close friends) passed away on November 23, 2024 at the age of 64 at Gunderson Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse, WI.  He was born on June 27, 1960 in Waterloo, Iowa.  Robert called Waterloo home for 27 years and then moved to Prairie du Chien, WI where he lived ever since.  Robert worked at numerous jobs while living in Waterloo and Prairie du Chien, but he particularly enjoyed bartending, where he established many friendships over the years. He also enjoyed kicking back to classic rock music, watching the Green Bay Packers, and fishing, despite his hesitation to actually clean the fish- which his brothers often did for him.

Robert was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Claus and Anna Miller, paternal grandparents James and Flossie Ackerson, his parents Allen and Dorothy Ackerson, and his brother Jeffery Ackerson.

Robert is survived by his brother Ronald of Prairie du Chein, WI., his sister Deborah Goodin and her husband Charles Goodin of Waterloo, IA, and his other sister Connie Strudthoff and her husband Richard Strudthoff of Mt. Pleasant, TX.  He has numerous nieces and nephews that reside in Iowa, Wisconsin, and Texas. Lastly, Meaghan Hackett of Calmar, IA, who he held very dear to his heart, and was as close to a daughter to him as one could be.

A graveside service will be held in Waterloo, IA at a later date.
