Obituary for Robert Alexander
Robert Gardner Alexander, 64, passed into the arms of the Lord on August 28, 2013 after a long and valiant struggle with acute leukemia.
Robert was born in Madison, Wisconsin on May 19, 1949. He graduated from Madison West High School in 1967 and from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (B.A.) in 1971. He received a J.D. degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 1976. Robert also received an LLM in Taxation from DePaul University Law School in 1984.
Robert engaged in the private practice of law for 25 years in Milwaukee and La Crosse as Alexander Law Office S.C. His practice concentrated in the area of estate planning. He was a noted author, speaker and consultant. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the National Association of Estate Planners and Councils (NAEPC). At the time of his death, Robert held the office of President of NAEPC. Robert cherished the friendships he developed with fellow NAEPC members throughout his many years of service to the organization.
Robert had a great sense of humor and quick wit. He was an avid reader of theology and law. He enjoyed music and was an accomplished pianist. Robert loved the Lord and served him well.
Robert loved his three daughters, Elizabeth, Sarah, and Rebecca. They were the light of his life. Robert is also survived by his brother John W. Alexander (Susan) of Elm Grove, James C. Alexander (Jennifer) of Madison and his sister, Jean Ann Gundersen (Sig) of La Crosse. He was preceeded in death by by his parents, Charles K. Alexander and Jean G. Alexander. He was also preceeded in death by his infant son, Stephen.
The family expresses appreciation to the physicians, nurses and staff of Gundersen Lutheran Hospital and Hospice in LaCrosse and UW Hospital Carbone Cancer Unit.
A private family memorial service will be held. Memorials may be given to the Gundersen Medical Foundation Hospice Program or the UW Carbone Cancer Center.
