Obituary for Patricia S. Isely
Beloved wife, mother, and grandmother Patricia S. Isely passed away on August 23, 2024, at Hillview Heath Care center in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
Pat was born September 1, 1931, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Louis Adam Schafer and Anita Nadine (Nix). Her father had the opportunity to join in business with his brother-in-law in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and the family moved there when Pat was a young girl. She always considered Tulsa her hometown. After graduating from the “old” Central High School, she went on to major in art at the University of Missouri-Columbia. One classmate in some of her classes caught her interest, and she and Charles C. Isely III were married after they both graduated.
Patricia continued to use her artistic gifts in raising her children and with various activities. She enjoyed refinishing furniture, sewing and making anything old new again. She was very involved in P. E.O., a women’s organization that raises money for various projects that support women’s education. In service to her church, she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and was a member of various boards. She was also involved with the work of the local Salvation Army.
Pat is survived by two daughters, a son- in- law, two grandchildren, various nieces and nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September, 21st in Christ Episcopal Church at the corner of 9th and Main in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. in the sanctuary. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at Arlington National Cemetery during a private interment service at a later date.
The family would like to thank Hillview Health Care and Gundersen Hospice for the kind and compassionate care Pat received. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to Christ Episcopal Church La Crosse or Hillview Health Care Center La Crosse.
