Obituary for Hazel Mae Butler
Hazel Mae Butler, age 60 of Onalaska passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2019, at her loving home surrounded by family.
Hazel was born in Mercy Hospital in Devils Lake, North Dakota on November 16, 1958, to James and Gladys (Everson) Butler. She attended Central high school (Devils Lake, ND) and graduated in 1976, soon after, she started working for Super Value grocery store in the bakery department and was employed there for 20 years, before her retirement in 2000. Hazel then moved to La Crosse to be near her sister, Rainy. Hazel was diagnosed with MSA and was then placed in a loving home, where her caregiver Tamla Wiebel who provided her with all the care she could ever hope for. She remained there until she passed on March 31, 2019.
Hazel is survived by her sister; Lorraine (Bob) Bechen, adopted sister; Tamla Wiebel, nieces; Janet (Tom) Armstrong, Brenda (Mac) McCoy and Michelle (Jared) Buee, great-nieces; Caitlin McGinnis, Alicia Simmonson, Kendra Johnson, and Chelsea Dotson, great-nephew; Mathew Armstrong and many great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, infant brother, brother, sister and nephew.
Friends and family are welcome to attend Hazel’s memorial service at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on Friday, April 5, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. with a visitation beforehand from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. A private family burial of her cremated remains will occur later at Devils lake cemetery in Devils Lake, North Dakota. The Sletten-McKee-Hanson funeral home is assisting the family with arrangements.
