Chester L. Johnson (Red), 83 of Onalaska passed away on Thursday, June 14, 2012 at the Mayo Clinic System in Sparta. He was born in August 20, 1928 to Leo and Lottie (Ross) Johnson. Chester served in the U.S. Army. On August 15, 1949 he married his bride Carol Johnson.
He was a truck driver and a member of the Teamsters Union in the Waukesha area for many years. After retiring he and Carol moved to the La Crosse area. He enjoyed going for long rides along the Mississippi River to watch the boats and barges. He loved doing many different crafty things throughout his life. He also enjoyed bowling, golfing, and playing pool.
Chester is survived by his loving wife a 62 years; three daughters, Sandy and her husband Bill Pardoe of Waukesha, Bonnie Aldrich, and Vicki Steuernagel both of La Crosse; three grandsons; Scott Kirsch, Brian Danning, and Cody Steuernagel; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers.
Visitation will be on Thursday, June, 21 at the Prairie Home Cemetery Chapel (605 S. Prairie Ave, Waukesha, WI) from 10:30 A.M. until the time of the Memorial Service at 11:00 A.M.
The Sletten-McKee-Hanson Funeral Home of La Crosse is assisting the family with arrangements.
