Obituary for Adam J. Huber
Adam J. Huber, 39, of Holmen passed away peacefully at home Sunday, September 9th after a two-year battle with cancer.
Adam was born January 13, 1979 in Winona, MN to John and Audrey (Svir) Huber. He graduated from St. Charles High School in 1997, then attended college in Rochester before settling in the La Crosse area in 1999, eventually earning his associate’s degree in CIS in 2004. He worked at Best Buy for many years before getting a position in IT at Gundersen Health System in 2008. He met his wife, Amanda Goebel, in true millennial fashion through OKCupid in 2014. They were married on April 15, 2017 in a private ceremony and welcomed their daughter Indi Marie on July 11th, 2018. Adam loved computers, video games, movies and was an avid reader. He loved to travel and was thrilled to be able to go to Hawaii for his honeymoon a little over a year after his cancer diagnosis. He didn’t want to be known as a “cancer patient,” and he fought with a smile on his face, humor in his heart, and hope for one more day. His smile and sense of humor will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.
Adam is survived by his wife Amanda; his daughter Indi; his parents, John Huber of Napoleon, ND, and Audrey Huber of Aitkin, MN; three brothers, Forrest and Ryan Huber of Rochester, MN, and Ross (Amy) Huber of Blackburn, MO; two nephews, Grayson and August Huber; many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Blake Huber.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, September 22nd in the East shelter at Halfway Creek Park in Holmen. Visitation will start at 2pm, with a memorial service at 3pm. A meal and gathering of friends and family will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, Adam has requested memorials to the family to be used for Indi’s college fund.
The Sletten-McKee-Hanson Funeral Home of La Crosse is assisting the family.
