Obituary for Alan George Miller
Alan George Miller “Grampy”, 76 of West Salem, WI passed away peacefully on February 25th, 2026 at home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on October 1st, 1949 to Wilbert and Elizabeth (Loging) Miller. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Barre Mills. He was the baby of the family as he had two older sisters, Arlene Lyden and Karen Johnson. He married the love of his life, Anna Slaback on January 19th, 1974 in Barre Mills, WI. They recently celebrated 52 years of marriage.
Alan graduated from West Salem High School in 1968. After high school, he attended WWTI for Tool and Die. After graduating, he began working at the West Salem Farmer’s Cooperative. He later owned his own milk hauling business until he took over the family farm in Barre Mills. Alan loved farming and did so until 1992 when he sold the farm and returned to work at the West Salem Farmer’s Cooperative where he worked until he retired. After retirement, he decided to go back “part-time” at the Cooperative only working 40+ hours a week until his dementia worsened.
Alan enjoyed farming, watching the Packers, Brewers, WWE and NASCAR, going to the casino, yardwork, playing cards with friends, walking his dog, and spending time with his family. Nothing compared to how much he loved watching his grandchildren’s sporting and school events, He loved his family over all else.
Alan is survived by his children Linda (Ernie) Miller-Domnie, Jennifer (Michael) Siegersma, and Matthew (Bridget Ruff) Miller. He is also survived by the light of his life, his grandchildren Savannah and Evan Domnie, Payton and Parker Demorest, Brady, Ella, and Noah Siegersma, and Breana and Kendra Miller. He is further survived by sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, many nieces, nephews and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters, his first great grandchild, and his beloved dog, Bella who passed away a few short weeks ago. As Grampy would say, “Bella was a good dog, too yet!”
The family would like to thank St. Croix Hospice; especially Nicole, Jadyn, Lindsey, and Heather and his Inclusa team Nicole and Carolyn.
A private family funeral will be held at a later date as Alan has selflessly donated his body to science. The Dickinson and Sletten-McKee-Hanson Funeral Homes are assisting the family with arrangements.
